Born in Calcutta in 1957, Sri Singhania obtained the degree of
Bachelor of Commerce in 1976 from the University of Calcutta. He was inducted in the
profession of Stock Broking at an early age though his father’s broking firm of M/s.
B.P. Singhania. He was admitted as a member of Calcutta Stock Exchange in January, 1987
and was elected as a member of the Committee (Governing Board) of the Exchange in
September, 1983. Subsequently elected to the high office of the President of Calcutta
Stock Exchange in September, 1996 which post he adorned till 1998. Sri Singhania was
elected to the Committee again in the year 2000 for a three year term.
